           The Toronto Heliconian Club (Yorkville)
    (www.heliconianclub.org), a meeting
    place for professional women in the Arts
    and Letters, is the oldest association of its
    kind in Canada. Founded in 1909 to give
    women in the arts and letters an opportunity
    to meet socially and intellectually, the Club
    holds to its original purpose while responding
    to the changes of contemporary life.

           The Club's Scholarship Fund was
    established in 2007; its sole purpose to nurture
    and support young women beginning their
    careers and professional life.

Barbara Fris is a Canadian soprano who performs both as a concert
artist and opera singer. She specializes in opera and classical
symphonic works for voice, having performed across Canada, in
Europe and the United States where she has sung a wide range of
works that also include operettas, musical theatre, light classics,
lieder and art songs. Based in Toronto, she divides her time
between performing and teaching in Canada and abroad.

    BARBARA FRIS.  Miss Fris sings the bravura aria 'Let the Bright Seraphim' from
    the sacred oratorio "Samson" by George Frideric Handel(1685-1759) and 'How
    beautiful are the feet of them' and 'I know that my Redeemer liveth, arias from
    Handel's well-known 'Messiah'.

    career, always captivating her audiences on the opera, concert and recital
    stage. Her personal charisma and soprano voice continue to endear her to
    audiences.
