Hyuntak Lee made his Toronto début solo piano recital in 2004 at Walter Hall, one of Toronto's finest
recital auditoriums. His performance there included works by Debussy, Phillipp, Prokofiev, Haydn and
Schubert’s ‘Wanderer Fantasie’, available on a live CD recording. Lee’s playing at Walter Hall has been
described as, “… magical not only to the ears but the eyes as well, as his expressions and
movements revealed a deep understanding and love of Schubert’s and Debussy’s music
in particular.” “The sounds that he so carefully and exquisitely produced transported his
audience to a magical land far beyond the confines of Walter Hall. It was breathtaking.”
Earlier that same year, Tak performed at the Brampton Public Library as a prelude to his highly
successful Walter Hall recital. Since then, Mr. Lee has been invited to play at Sunderland Hall (Toronto),
Victoria College Chapel, the Northern District (Toronto) Library and at historic Hart House where, at each

While Mr. Lee’s current repertoire is drawn from the great piano virtuoso classics, he also enjoys contemporary music and jazz, especially William John Evans
(better known as Bill Evans), one of the most famous and influential American jazz pianists of 20th-century.
In between university studies and performances, Mr. Lee is growing his repertoire in anticipation of entering a number of international piano competitions and
furthering his aspirations to become an international concert pianist of noteworthy repute.
